Bali is gloomy during Covid-19 in the eyes of international visitors

Below is the sharing of Penny Watson, an Australian tourist, after living in Bali for a month.

Before the pandemic, every year millions of Australian tourists came to the paradise island, which is a 4-hour flight away.

Authorities put up ropes to prevent people from going to Echo Beach as a disease prevention measure.

Other tourists he met were a Japanese-Belgian family, 3-4 British guests, a Korean, two Canadian citizens and mostly locals.

Roadblocks with checkpoints were erected on main roads leading into and out of Denpasar, as well as between areas.

The streets are quiet.

Checkpoints set up everywhere on the island are a familiar sight these days.

Essential services are allowed to open, but tourism, hotels and retail markets are strongly affected.

Bali also prohibits visiting beaches.

Watson’s few daily pleasures are watching dozens of giant kites flying in the clear blue Bali sky.

And Bali, in the eyes of male tourists, no matter how gloomy it is right now during the pandemic, it is still a small paradise on earth.
