6 ways to prevent and detect cancer early

Cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in the world.

Maintain a healthy immune system

Dr. S. Adam Ramin (Department of Urological Oncology, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, USA) shared that the immune system is the body’s first line of defense against cancer cells.

For a healthy immune system, people should eat healthy foods, choose fruits and vegetables such as berries, beets, celery, carrots, pomegranates… Limit fatty foods, maintain weight.

Fresh fruits and vegetables contain many nutrients that help limit the risk of cancer.

Limit processed foods

Dr. Ramin explained that foods containing preservatives, canned foods, processed foods… if kept for a long time increase the risk of cancer.

Dr. Carmen Echols (a family medicine physician) in the US said that one in eight women is diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in this country.

Colonoscopy screening

Dr. Echols added that the recommended age for colorectal cancer screening is 45 years old.

However, precancerous cells or blood in the stool may not be visible to the naked eye.

Avoid the notion that only smokers get lung cancer

According to Dr. Mark Dylewski (Chief of Thoracic Surgery, Miami Cancer Institute), environmental factors and toxic chemicals can increase the risk of lung cancer.

Protect skin from sunlight

Dr. Naiara Braghiroli (Miami Cancer Institute) advises everyone to have a yearly dermatological exam because skin cancer can potentially be found in any area.
