Djokovic: ‘Winning against Nadal is the highest point’

Djokovic won the 2019 Australian Open after defeating Lucas Pouille and Rafael Nadal with the same score of 3-0 in the semi-finals and finals.

`I remember I only made 15 unforced errors in both of those matches,` Djokovic said in an interview with legend John McEnroe on ESPN on September 21.

Djokovic was surprised by what he did in the last two matches of the 2019 Australian Open. He thought he was perfectly suited to the playing conditions here.

Djokovic has won the Australian Open 10 times, including four of the last five tournaments.

Veteran coach Patrick Mouratoglou assessed Djokovic as a player who desires to win more than anyone at his time, including his two rivals Roger Federer and Nadal.

`Djokovic wants to get better every day, craves more and that’s where he is better than Nadal and Federer,` Mouratoglou commented on Tennis Majors.

Mouratoglou, who runs the prestigious Tennis Academy in France, has coached Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Coco Gauff, Stefanos Tsitsipas and is leading Holger Rune.

Talking about Djokovic, in a post on the homepage on September 21, ATP affirmed that Djokovic after the age of 30 is stronger than the version of himself before the age of 30.

Djokovic won 12 Grand Slams after the age of 30, equal to the number of Grand Slams he had before the age of 30. But Nole’s Grand Slam final winning rate after the age of 30 is superior to that of his youth.

When Djokovic began playing professionally, the Grand Slam record belonged to Pete Sampras with 14 titles.
