Hypothesize the cause of the increase in the ratio of F1 to F0 in Hanoi

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh said on November 19 that the current F1 to F0 rate in the city is up to 13%, double the period from the beginning of the epidemic to the end of October (about 7%).

Commenting on the figure of 13%, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dac Phu, former Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health), advisor to the Vietnam Center for Emergency Response to Public Health Events, said

First, it is possible that the authorities evaluate F1 more closely, so the number of F1 positive is higher.

`The above assumptions need specific research evaluation to find the exact cause,` the expert said.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung (Vice President of Hanoi Infection Control Association), acknowledged that F1 infection from F0 in the community or concentrated quarantine area is the leading cause of the rapid spread rate.

People stood scanning the QR Code to declare health at the gate of Phu Do village, Nam Tu Liem district, on the morning of November 18.

According to statistics from the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), since November 4, the number of infections in the city has continuously recorded more than 100 cases a day, with more than 200 to nearly 300 cases recorded on many days.

Hanoi City has so far injected over 11.2 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, of which 6.1 million have been vaccinated with the first dose (reaching 93.5% of the population aged 18 and over and 70.3% of the total population).

According to Mr. Phu, authorities need to make specific statistics on the rate of people infected after vaccination and not yet vaccinated, the rate of severe symptoms, death… to have an appropriate response.

From November 16, Hanoi implemented a pilot F1 quarantine at home.

The solution to isolate F1 at home was also agreed by Associate Professor Hung.

`People’s awareness must still come first,` Mr. Phu emphasized in the context of Hanoi recording many complicated outbreaks and the number of community cases increasing.
