Ambassador Knapper: The Vietnamese – American economy is more connected than ever

In a video released today by the US Embassy in Vietnam, Ambassador Marc Knapper affirmed that 2023 will be a great year in relations between the two countries, with the outstanding event being the historic visit to Hanoi of President Joe Biden.

The US Ambassador mentioned the two countries’ major investment projects, including Amkor Technology opening a computer chip assembly, testing and packaging facility worth 1.6 billion USD in Bac Ninh province.

`These are just two examples of how important bilateral trade is to the resilience of global supply chains. Our two economies are more closely linked than ever,` he said.

The US Ambassador also affirmed that the two countries are cooperating more closely on emerging technologies, together building conditions for high-tech industries such as semiconductors to flourish.

`We focus on STEM education, working to modernize Vietnam’s higher education, support digital commerce and workforce development,` said Mr. Knapper.

Economic – trade – investment cooperation is a high priority area in bilateral relations.

Accumulated to 2023, the US ranks 11th among investors in Vietnam with about 1,200 projects, total capital of nearly 11.4 billion USD.
