Watkins celebrates his 19th goal in the Premier League this season.

The two goals lost by the `Gunners` took place in just three minutes, in different ways.

Three minutes later, from Jorginho’s failed pass, the away team counterattacked with Youri Tielemans’s flick to Ollie Watkins who rushed down to face the goalkeeper.

With 19 goals in the Premier League this season, Watkins equaled the record for a player for Aston Villa, when Christian Benteke did the same thing 11 years ago.

In addition to Watkins, two former Arsenal players also left their mark, goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and coach Unai Emery.

Striker Kai Havertz was disappointed after Arsenal’s defeat.

Aston Villa is firmly in the Top 4, with three points more than fifth-place Tottenham.

The two teams shot a total of 20 times in the first half, but the two best opportunities came in the 40th minute. First, midfielder Gabriel Magalhaes cleared the ball and hit Oleksandr Zinchenko’s back, rebounding it, allowing Watkins to shoot a low, diagonal shot that bounced off the post.

Arsenal counterattacked with Gabriel Jesus’ cross to set up the ball for Leandro Trossard to cushion from close range, but goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez stretched out his legs to make an unbelievable save.

Aston Villa is the only team that won both matches against Arsenal in the Premier League this season, and they also finished more in the second half.

There is no longer any right to self-determination in the Premier League, but Arsenal must quickly recover when they have to be a guest at Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals three days later.
